Dental Veneers

Chipped, worn, stained, uneven or misaligned teeth may not be health threatening, but they can make us very self-conscious about the appearance of our smile. All of these conditions can be fixed with dental veneers.

Dental veneers are thin sheets of porcelain or resin that are bonded to the front of our teeth to restore the look of natural, healthy, white and well-formed teeth. In both cases, these veneers are made in a laboratory to fit your teeth perfectly. Most of us know that porcelain can be very brittle, so you may be concerned about the strength of a porcelain veneer. The veneer is bonded to your tooth with a very strong cement. Because the veneer was made to fit over your tooth perfectly, there is no room for the veneer to twist or deform in any way. As a result, veneers are very strong and breakage or cracking is rare.

What is the Process to Veneer Teeth?

A thin layer is removed from the surface of your tooth. This provides a clean bonding surface as well as a resulting veneered tooth that is no thicker than it was before. An impression is taken of the altered tooth and sent to a dental laboratory, where the veneer is made. You should not expect any discomfort during the waiting period, and you can eat as normal. Once the veneer is ready, we’ll call you in to place the veneer on your tooth. The result will be a much more attractive, in fact, flawless teeth.
